WE’RE ON POINTE
MEET OUR EXPERTS
As a native of Colorado, Amy Kenney has worked with the regional dance and active community since 1987. In 1997, she became owner of Boulder Body Wear, where she proudly serves the local and regional dance communities. Amy currently travels and works nationally with dancers from Long Beach, CA, to Atlantic City, NJ, to help improve their dance performance through the fit of their pointe shoes. Amy was recognized by Calmart as a leading buyer in the activewear industry in 2012. Fitting pointe shoes is Amy's passion, and although she has varied experiences with different types of pointe shoes and feet, she always seeks out new information, education and products to enhance her fittings. "Meeting dancers and talking with them to figure out their needs is always gratifying,” she says. “I like to share education and theory while learning what works best for each individual dancer. This approach helps dancers achieve the best outcome from their fitting."
Boulder Body Wear follows a fitting theory that allows dancers’ full articulation of their feet without "floating" and over compression of the metatarsals. Throughout her career, Amy has witnessed the evolution of fitting theories throughout the industry and the emergence of healthier dancers with healthier feet. Amy is currently available Sunday-Thursday for fittings.
Victoria has proudly worked at Boulder Body Wear since August of 2015. She has been a ballerina for 19 of her 22 years and grew up in her mom’s studio, where she began teaching ballet and jazz at the age of 15. Since then, Victorie has been fortunate enough to dance and teach at numerous studios and nonprofit organizations, expanding her knowledge on dance and all its beauty. Victoria has been dancing on pointe for more than 10 years as well as teaching pointe classes for more than five years. When fitting pointe shoes, she uses her own personal experience and knowledge to relate to the dancer. She works to fit dancers in shoes that will keep their feet healthy and keep them smiling while they do what they love. She is working toward her degree in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado Boulder and using her knowledge about the human body to ensure that the fit of the pointe shoe is the best it can be!
Jamie Melaragno Schuler
Jamie Schuler began working at Boulder Body Wear in January of 2013 and has trained to fit pointe shoes under Amy Kenney and Mimi Ferrie. Jamie dances professionally with 3rd Law Dance/Theater and teaches ballet, modern and Gyrokinesis® locally. She has trained in classical forms of modern dance and ballet for more than 20 years, and she received a BFA in dance performance from Florida State University and is currently completing her Gyrokinesis® L1 Teacher Training. Her personal experience with movement in and out of pointe shoes informs her pointe shoe fittings. During a pointe shoe fitting, Jamie considers how the dancer’s whole body is working with the shoe in order to provide the most effective and healthy fit possible. Her goal is to make dancers feel confident and free while dancing.
Robyn has grown up at Boulder Body Wear and has been around dance since she was a little girl. She uses an educational approach to fitting pointe shoes and likes to discuss options and troubleshoot with dancers to find the best choice. She started fitting shoes in 2015 and has quickly been asked to visit different schools nationally to fit pointe shoes. Robyn truly cares about our dancers and wants to make sure they are happy as well as confident with their decision. Robyn has appointments available five days a week but please call ahead for your appointment.
